GMC Vs Honda
Motorist Cynthia LaPorta, 42, of 34 Lake Road, who was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street about 5:10 pm on July 18, stopped and waiting to make a left turn onto Country Club Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Debra Andrada-Martin, 37, of Bethel was driving a 1993 Honda Civic sedan southward on South Main Street, police said.
As the GMC made the left turn, it collided with the Honda, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued LaPorta a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Disturbance
Police report that at about 9 pm on July 14, motorist Paul Palanzo, 42, of Branford was involved in a motor vehicle incident with another motorist while on Interstate 84, after which Palanzo followed the other motorist into the town center.
At Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, Palanzo allegedly started a verbal confrontation with multiple people, police said. Police charged Palanzo with creating a public disturbance. He is scheduled to appear in court July 28.
Orchard Hill Road
About 4:43 pm July 21, motorist Victor Cordova, 42, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Honda Passport sport-utility vehicle, was attempting to turn left from Orchard Hill Road onto northbound South Main Street, police report.
At that time, motorist William Lafleur, 69, of Westerly, R.I., was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck southward on South Main Street, according to police.
As the Honda made the left turn, it collided with the Ford, police said. There were no injuries. Cordova received an infraction ticket for failure to obey a stop sign and for driving without a license.
Toyota Accident
Motorist Matthew Eriquez, 19, of 3 Hawthorne Hill Rd, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Celica eastward on Orchard Hill Rd about 9 pm on July 23, lost control of the auto, went off the right road shoulder, and then struck a rock wall and two trees, police said.
Eriquez was not injured. Police issued Eriquez an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
DUI Charge
Just after midnight on July 22, motorist Erin OâNeill, 27, of 28 Mountain Manor Road, who was driving a 1998 Acura Integra sedan, stopped at a flashing red traffic signal at the intersection of Queen Street and Church Hill Road, after which motorist Bounsiane Khotpanya, 27, of Leominster, Mass., who was driving a 2000 Audi S-424-7 sedan, drove into the rear end of the Acura, police said. There were no injuries.
After investigating, police arrested Khotpanya on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Khotpanya posted $60 bail for an August 8 court appearance.
Lincoln Vs Ford
About 5 pm on July 20, motorist Wallace Sandbach, Jr, 58, of Nashua, N.H., who was driving a 2004 Lincoln, attempted to pull out of the Blue Colony Diner parking lot at 66 Church Hill Road, but collided with motorist Jordan Zablauskas, 26, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 1997 Ford pickup truck on Church Hill Road, police report.
Zablauskas was transported to Danbury Hospital by ambulance volunteers to be checked for injuries, police said.
Police verbally warned Sandbach for failure to grant the right of way.
I-84 DUI
State police said they saw motorist Jonathan Hill, 21, of New Haven driving erratically on eastbound Interstate 84, west of the Exit 10 off-ramp, at about 2:10 am on July 22, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police arrested Hill on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the established lane. After arrest processing, Hill was released on $500 bail for an August 7 court appearance.
Ford Hits Barrier
State police said that motorist George Paik, 47, of 15 Overlook Drive, who was driving a 2002 Ford Focus, fell asleep while traveling on westbound Interstate 84âs Exit 11 off-ramp and struck a section of guardrailing at about 2:47 pm on July 21. Paik was not injured. State police verbally warned him for failure to drive in the established lane.
DUI Crash
State police report that motorist Kristin Fontaine, 26, of Holyoke, Mass., who was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse on westbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, lost control of the vehicle and went off the left road shoulder, striking guardrailing on the median divider about 2:10 am on July 19.
Fontaine was not injured. State police charged her with driving under the influence, driving without a license, and failure to drive in the proper lane. Fontaine was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.
Found Goods
On July 15, a found backpack containing clothing and other items was turned over to police for safekeeping. The backpack and its contents had been found along a driveway at Edmond Town Hall at 45 Main Street. The owner should visit the police station at 3 Main Street to identify the backpack and claim the goods.
Danbury Man
Police said that at about 6 am on July 25, they stopped motorist Carlos Urena, 29, of Danbury for driving too fast on Swamp Road in Botsford.
After investigating, police charged Urena with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving while under suspension. Urena was released on written promise to appear August 15 in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Motorist Amanda Hadgraft, 19, of Johnny Appleseed Lane, who was driving a 1992 Chevrolet sedan westward on Wasserman Way about 9:30 pm on July 23, stopped to make a left turn into the commuter parking lot located near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, police said.
Westbound motorist Michael Nolfi, 48, of 28 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen sedan, then drove into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
Hadgraft was transported to Danbury Hospital by ambulance volunteers to be checked for injuries, police said.
After investigating, police arrested Nolfi on charges of driving under the influence and following too closely. Police released him on $100 bail for an August 8 court appearance.
Motorcycle Crash
About 12:09 am on July 24, motorcyclist Shane Gordon, 18, of 28 High Rock Road was driving a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja southward near 41 Bennetts Bridge Road, when he collided with a parked vacant 2005 BMW X-5 sport-utility vehicle, which was parked along the right road shoulder, police said. The motorcycle was totaled. The BMW received body damage.
Ambulance volunteers treated Gordon at the scene for minor injuries. He refused transport to a hospital, police said. Police issued Gordon an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions and for driving a motorcycle in violation of permit restrictions.
Trespassing Charges
Police said they found Jordan Perugini, 19, of Naugatuck and four other unidentified youths to be trespassing at the town-owned Fairfield Hills property at about 2:45 am July 22.
Police said that they issued Perugini and two of the youths infraction tickets for simple trespassing. Such tickets carry $92 fines and are appealable in court.
Queen Street DUI
Police report that they stopped motorist Steven A. Phillips, 20, of 24 Washbrook Road to investigate at about 1:08 am July 27 on Queen Street.
After giving Phillips field sobriety tests, police charged him with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol by a minor in a motor vehicle, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and failure to have tail lamps.
After arrest processing, police released Phillips on $500 bail for an August 10 court appearance.
Evading Responsibility
Sometime between 1:30 and 3 am on July 27, a motorist who had been driving southward on The Boulevard, drove across Church Hill Road and then struck a sign positioned at 30 Church Hill Road, according to police. The driver then left the area.
Police are searching for the driver of a silver-colored Volvo, which would have body damage to its front end and left side. Police as ask anyone with information about the driver to contact them at 426-5841, or at 270-8888.
Wasserman Way
About 1:30 pm July 25, motorist Caterina Kelley, 33, of Torrington, who was driving a 1997 Acura Integra sedan westward on Wasserman Way, slowed, signaled, and then stopped to make a left turn onto Nunnawauk Road, according to police.
Westbound motorist David Green, 25, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2000 Hyundai Elantra sedan, then struck the Acura from behind, police said.
Kelley received a neck bruise, but refused medical attention, police said. Police issued Green a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance.
South Main MVA
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street and Elm Drive about 3:53 pm July 26.
Police said the collision involved motorist Edilamar Fonseca, 42, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Dodge station wagon, and motorist William Hansen, 39, of Manchester, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet sedan. There were no injuries. Fonseca received a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Mt Pleasant Crash
About 5:24 pm July 21, westbound motorist Ling Kendall, 45, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1998 GMC van, stopped on Mt Pleasant Road and was waiting to make a left turn onto Taunton Lane, police report.
Westbound motorist Lynele Wright, 24, of Bethel, who was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi sedan, then drove into the rear end of the GMC, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Wright to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Hawleyville firefighters responded to the collision. Police issued Wright an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.
