Caron To Join PURA
HARTFORD â Governor Dannel P. Malloy recently announced the interim appointment of Michael A. Caron to serve as a director of the stateâs Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), the entity charged with regulating rates and services of state electricity, natural gas, water, and telecommunications providers.
PURA is housed in the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and replaced the Department of Public Utility Control. Beyond its mandate to regulate rates and services, PURA also oversees Connecticutâs cable television companies.
Pending confirmation by the General Assembly in the next regular session, Mr Caron will serve as an interim appointee on the three-member authority with Chairman Arthur House and Vice Chairman Jack Betkoski III.
