August A Busy Month For Youth At Booth Library
August A Busy Month For Youth
At Booth Library
Teens and âtweens have lots of activities to choose from at the C.H. Booth Library in August.
Wednesday, August 1, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, using Sharpie pens and a few simple supplies, students can create a Sharpie tie-dyed T-shirt. Bring a clean, white, 100 percent cotton T-shirt to the young adult area on the second floor of the library for this craft.
On Monday, August 6, from 6:30 to 8 pm, join area young people at the library to share original poetry and music with others during open mic night. Teens and âtweens, ages 12 and up, are invited to participate or watch and enjoy, in an informal setting. No registration is needed. Area teen poet Rebecca Antonaccio will be hosting and reading from her upcoming book of poetry, as well as poems from February Freedom. As a published teen poet, she enjoys sharing her work with others and listening to young peopleâs original work.
Tuesday, August 7, it is time for Outside-The-Box: Board Games For Teens and âTweens, for a special summer program with master gamer Eric Paradis. He will bring his strategy games for young people to try their skill on, from 1 to 4 pm. Challenging board games include Settlers of Catan, Beowulf, Unspeakable Words, and Ghost Chase, for young people ages 10 and up. Register online at www.chboothlibrary.org.
Also register online for Katie Stevensonâs Duct Tape Workshop, Wednesday, August 14, from 2 to 3:30 pm. The program is limited to 15 students in grades 6 through 12. There is a $6 supply fee, payable at the program. Ms Stevensonâs list of projects is huge â wristband, picture frame, roses, sandals are among the options.
The Teen Summer Reading Challenge final drawing is Monday, August 13. All tickets must be in the raffle boxes by 1 pm to qualify. Besides drawing winners for each of the remaining prizes from local merchants, everyoneâs name will be entered once into the Grand Prize Drawing for the Kindle Touch by Amazon. Rising grades 6 to 12 can continue to read and win big this summer.
