Sherman Art Show Returns
SHERMAN â The 35th annual Sherman Art Show will be held Friday through Saturday, August 18-20, in the townâs firehouse. The event features paintings and crafts by more than 80 artists, assuring diversity in form, style and subject matter.
Among participating painters is Merrill French, whose singular style and realistic oils of urban and suburban scenes have won many prizes. Acrylic is the medium used by Mel Crawford for his luminous portraits and land and seascapes.
Debra Schaffer is a collage artist who assembles photographs into a composition which invites close scrutiny yet from a distance presents a unified whole. Rainie Crawford is a master in the use of pastel creating mysterious indoor still lifes, while Mary Whitehill uses watercolor for her decorative paintings of florals and the outdoors.
Sherman Firehouse is at the junction of Routes 37 and 39. Exhibit hours are from 10 am to 4 pm Friday, and 10 am to 5:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
