Occupation: I clean houses. Please don’t call me. I’m booked, with a waiting list. I earned a certificate in advertising art from the University of Bridgeport. At one time, I built landscapes for architectural scale models at a company in New Haven. That was a great job.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived here for 27 years. I grew up in Monroe.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: The Pleasance. That was such a beautifully generous act.

Pets: I have a 9½ year-old Wheaton Terrier, Phoenix, whose nickname is Phee-Phee. I adopted him when he was a year old from the North Shore Animal Shelter in Long Island. He is the most loyal, smartest companion.

Hobbies: I love all arts and crafts, gardening, dressing The Cornerstone thrift shop window once a month, and photography. I also enjoy home decorating that includes making my own slipcovers and window treatments, and love writing poetry. My favorite sport is snow skiing, and I also golf, hike, and fish. I also practice yoga. It’s had a profound effect on my life. It’s energizing and calming.

Favorite Books and Authors: I’m not much of a reader, but two recent favorites were White Magnolia and The Perfect Storm.

Favorite TV Show: Anything with forensic or medical science, gardening, or home decoration. I can’t miss Tom Green, either, a comedian with a bizarre sense of humor.

Organizations: I am deeply involved with Cornerstone thrift shop. It is a fully volunteer organization, which relies on donations from our community. Items are sold at reasonable prices, and the profit is turned over to the Congregational Church for use in wonderful programs and projects. I am a member of the Congregational Church, Winterset Ski Club, and secretary of an investment club, Investsmart.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: The fireworks at Dickinson Park.

Favorite Vacation Spot: I will spend any weekend anywhere with my high school buddies, Carol, Maggie, and Sissi. Also, touring the Greek Islands on motorbike was a blast. I’m looking forward to Alaska in August, a cruise and land tour. I hear only absolute best things about it.

Personal Philosophy: Simplify. Exercise. Commune with nature, and when inner peace comes, all seems right.
