What Is Best For Newtown

To the Editor:

I have been a member of the Republican Party all my adult life. I firmly believe in the party’s values. I also believe that Newtown has had good stewardship with Herb Rosenthal as first selectman.

Last week the Republican Town Committee elected William Sheluck as the standard bearer for this fall’s election. Despite my party loyalty, I think Herb Rosenthal is the man to vote for this fall.

I realize this letter may be rushing the season, but I feel it is important to get the issues in front of the public as early as possible. Under Rosenthal’s leadership we have seen a massive expansion of our town. Herb and his administration have sought to maintain the character of Newtown yet attract and retain business to bolster our tax base.

I am confident that Herb Rosenthal has one core value that is at the heart of everything he does as first selectman…what is best for Newtown. I don’t know enough about Mr Sheluck to say anything even approaching that.

As our town faces the challenges of growth and reduced resources I want a man as first selectman who I know will always pick the course of action that best serves our town. I am voting for Herb Rosenthal in November.
