Jane E. Wilson, age 88, wife of William S. Wilson, Sr, formerly of Glover Avenue, Newtown, died July 23 in Ashlar of Newtown.
She was born in New Haven, November 6, 1914, daughter of the late Louis and Alice Mae (Fowler) Andrew. Mr and Mrs Wilson moved to Newtown in 1950. Before retiring to Florida in 1977, Mrs. Wilson was Director of Volunteer Services at Fairfield Hills Hospital. The couple returned to Newtown in 1988.
Jane is remembered as an active woman, both in Newtown and in Florida. She was a former member of Newtown Congregational Church, an avid reader, an accomplished bridge player and painter. When she was in Florida, she was a member of a synchronized swimming group.
She is survived, besides her husband of Newtown, by one son, William S. Wilson, Jr, of West Virginia, and one daughter, Mary Ellen Lydem of Newtown. She also leaves four grandchildren, Mark Wilson of Vermont, Reid Wilson of Delaware, Deborah Lydem Holmes and Jaclyn Lydem Krikorian, both of Newtown; six great-grandchildren, Salina Wilson, Lily Holmes, Hanna Holmes, Eli Holmes, Taylor Krikorian, and Payten Krikorian.
Mr and Mrs Wilson celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 3.
