Fire Companies Work Together
Fire Companies Work Together
To the Editor:
The Officers of the United Fire Company of Botsford would like to clarify the letter written in haste by our vice president and submitted for print in The Newtown Bee last week. We understand that the letter caused a great deal of concern for the membership of Newtown Hook and Ladder and the residents of Newtown; for this, we wish to express our deepest apologies.
Residents of Newtown have recently been contacted by a fundraising company selling tickets to a celebrity softball game. After several conversations between the officers of both fire companies, the agency canvassing the town for ticket sales had been instructed to correct some wording.
The money generated by this fundraising event is being divided between the teams playing in the softball game: Newtown Hook & Ladder and the New England Patriot Legends.
We at the United Fire Company hold all of the emergency service groups in high regard and are pleased with the level of professionalism they bring to calls when responding to calls in our district. The fire companies work together every day and will continue to do so in the future.
Newtown Hook and Ladder in no way tried to deceive anyone in the town and in fact has our support with their fundraising efforts as they also support ours.
We once again apologize to the membership of Newtown Hook and Ladder and to the residents of Newtown for this unfortunate incident.
Sincerely,
Chief Richard Brady on behalf of the
Officers of the United Fire Company.
