Free Audubon Public Programs

SOUTHBURY — The Audubon Center at Bent of the River has two free public programs scheduled during the first weekend of August.

The first program, a full moon walk, will take place on Friday, August 3, beginning at 8 pm. Carolyn and John Longstreth will lead visitors on the moonlit adventure to look for bats flying overhead and fireflies in the long grass meadows.

A dragonfly walk will then be led by Mike Thomas on Sunday, August 5, beginning at 10 am. Mr Thomas is one of the region’s most knowledgeable people on dragonflies. He will lead his group over the center’s grounds in search of dragon- and damselflies.

Both programs will begin from the visitors’ parking lot. The Audubon Center is at 185 East Flat Hill Road, off Route 172 in the South Britain section of Southbury. Call 264-5098 for additional information.
