Take Flight With NVCC

WATERBURY — Naugatuck Valley Community College will hold aviation science open houses at area airports for persons who are seeking a degree in aviation science or who simply want to take advantage of the school’s aviation science courses.

An open house will be held at Capital Aviation, Inc., on Saturday, July 29, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the Waterbury-Oxford Airport, 288 Christian Street, Oxford. Another open house will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 5, at Danbury Airport, 49 Miry Brook Road, Danbury.

Certified pilots can receive advance credit toward an associate degree based on previous certifications and ratings. The course of study also could serve as the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s degree in aviation science. The program at NVCC provides the requirements needed for FAA certification as a private or commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor with an instrument and/or a multi-engine rating.
