Audition Notice: ‘The Tavern’

RIDGEFIELD — The RWPA Theatre Barn is seeking 13 scenery-chewing actors for George M. Cohan’s rollicking farce, The Tavern. Auditions will be Monday, August 7, and Tuesday, August 8, from 7 to 9 pm, at the RWPA Theatre Barn on Halpin Lane.

Bring a resume. Auditions will consist of reading form the script. The production will run weekends, September 22 to October 14. For further information, call 203/431-9850.

The Tavern is a rarely produced and noisy little play. The script features plot twists, mistaken identities, and a colorful cast of characters, including a devilishly charming intruder who punctures the pretensions of 19th Century Connecticut society, all during impossibly bad weather.

The cast consists of nine men and four women, and includes all ages, types and abilities. The Tavern will be directed by John Grissmer of Ridgefield, who has directed the play before and “is determined to get it right this time.”
