Riverside DUI

At about 2:35 pm on July 15, motorist Richard Olivas, 38, of South Kent was driving a Saab 9-3 auto in the Riverside section of Sandy Hook, when the Saab drove into a stone wall at the intersection of Riverside Road and Laurel Trail, according to police.

There were no injuries. After investigating, police charged Olivas with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right on a curve. Police released Olivas on $500 bail for a July 29 court arraignment.

 

Wasserman Crash

At about 12;15 pm on July 9, motorist Heather Russell Milici, 40, of New Haven, who was driving a 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan eastward on Wasserman Way near Berkshire Road, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Alexia Nicole Badick, 17, of 2 Honey Lane, who was driving a 2012 Nissan Sentra sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Badick received a written warning for failure to dive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Pontiac Vs Subaru

Police report that at about 11:15 am on July 10, motorist Timothy Walsh, 18, of 9 Blue Spruce Drive, who was driving a 2004 Pontiac Vibe hatchback, stopped at a stop sign on New Lebbon Road at its intersection with High Rock Road.

At that time, motorist Erik Benson, 16, of 11 Tamarack Road was driving a 2015 Subaru Outback SUV southward on High Rock Road, police said.

The Pontiac then drove into the intersection in front of the approaching Subaru, resulting in a collision, police said. There were no injuries. Walsh received a written warning for a stop sign violation, police said.

House Burglary

Police received a report about 3 pm on July 17 that a house burglary had occurred on Irvin Lane, so they responded to the scene to investigate. Irvin Lane connects Saw Mill Road to the intersection of Saw Mill Ridge Road and Taunton Lake Road. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating Officer Stephanie Thibodeau at the police station.

Spurs

Police said this week they are still seeking the owner of pair of metal spurs with an attached leather strap that was found in the parking lot of Toro Restaurant at 28 Church Hill Road on May 11. The owner may claim the spurs by contacting Officer Bart Lorancaitis at the police station.

Evading Responsibility

Police report that at about 4:25 pm on July 15, a local woman, who was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, stopped in traffic near 62 Church Hill Road behind a stopped a Volkswagen EOS sedan, after which the Volkswagen backed into the front end of the Mazda and then drove away.

There were no injuries to the Mazda’s driver and her two passengers. Police ask anyone who knows the identity of the Volkswagen’s driver to contact them at the police station.

Church Hill Collision

At about 5:30 pm on July 15, motorist Jennifer Burns, 42, of 1 Arlyn Ridge Road, who was driving a 2009 Honda Pilot SUV eastward near 54 Church Hill Road, was struck from behind by motorist Jessica Wiedemann, 24, of Florida, who was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima sedan, according to police.

There were no injuries. Wiedemann received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Flagpole Intersection

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the flagpole intersection of Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 11:45 am on July 19.

Motorist Narit Thapanadilok, 59, of Stratford, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Tercel, stopped for a stop sign on Church Hill Road, police said.

Motorist Lillian Jones, 17, of 7 Longview Heights Road was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty SUV southward on Main Street and approaching the intersection, police said.

The Toyota then pulled into the intersection in front of the Jeep, resulting in a collision, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Thapanadilok a written warning for a stop sign violation.

Assault Case

Police said they responded to Filet Restaurant at 43 South Main Street about 9:36 pm on July 18 after receiving a call about a physical altercation there.

Police said that Laura Piazza, 55, of 10 Wills Road became upset with the workers at the restaurant and then allegedly struck a restaurant manager and the chef, after which she broke several planters outdoors.

After investigating, police charged Piazza with third-degree assault and with breach of peace.

Piazza was released on a written promise to appear for arraignment on August 4 in Danbury Superior Court.

Old Farm Road

Motorist Ana Cristina Padaling-Bush, 24, of Bethel was driving a 2011 Nissan Rogue SUV westward near 13 Old Farm Road and then stopped in preparing to back up into a driveway at about 8:48 am on July 17, police said.

Motorist Debra Widman, 42, of 22 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 2012 Audi A-4 station wagon, then stopped behind the stopped Nissan, police said.

The Nissan then backed into the Audi, police said. There were no injuries. Padaling-Bush received an infraction for unsafe backing, police said.

Exit 10 Crash

State police said motorist Andres Medina, 22, of Danbury was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon sedan on the Exit 10 on-ramp for westbound Interstate 84 at about 3 pm on July 16, when he lost control of the auto and then struck some guardcabling along the right road shoulder, after which the vehicle traveled down an embankment.

Medina was not injured. State police gave Medina an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane and for driving an unregistered vehicle.

Off-Ramp Collision

Motorist Brenda Daigle-Perez, 51, of Naugatuck was traveling on the Exit 10 off-ramp for westbound Interstate 84 at about 10:47 pm on July 14, when she lost control of the auto and it struck some flex-beam metal guardrailing, state police said. There were no injuries. State police said they verbally advised the motorist to maintain the travel lane while driving.

Dodgingtown Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident near 1 Dodgingtown Road at about 8:08 am on July 14.

Police said motorist Robert Targett, 48, of Danbury, who was driving a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was attempting to exit a commercial parking lot at 1 Dodgingtown Road at the same time that motorist Guillermo Ballarino, 36, of 20 Palestine Road, who was driving a 2013 Buick Enclave SUV, was starting to pull away from a stop sign on Hattertown Road at its intersection with Dodgingtown Road.

The two vehicles then collided. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Targett for failure to grant the right of way.

Wet Road

At about 10:06 pm on July 18, motorist Albino Rodrigues, 17, of Monroe, who was driving a 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck southward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Button Shop Road, began to negotiate a set of curves in the road, but slid on the wet pavements and struck some metallic flex-beam guardrailing along the right road shoulder, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Rodrigues for traveling too fast for conditions.

Volvo Vs Toyota

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Huntingtown Road and Meadowbrook Road about 11:33 am on July 20.

Motorist Maria Degirolamo, 82, of 4 Strawberry Lane, who was driving a 2015 Volvo XC-60 station wagon, was traveling southward on Huntingtown Road, police said.

Motorist Anna Roussas, 60, of 38 Maltbie Road, who was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla sedan, was driving westward on Meadowbrook Road and then stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, police said.

The Volvo then attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Meadowbrook Road, but it struck the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Degirolamo an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Stolen Truck

Police said they are seeking information on the whereabouts of a white 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was stolen from a Route 6 address. Police learned of the truck theft at about 2 pm on July 11.

The truck has a Connecticut marker plate with the number “2796CP.” The truck has two doors and an extended cab. The vehicle has the legend “Yacko & Sons” posted on its side. The truck has a yellow safety light positioned atop its cab.

As of July 21, the truck was still missing. Police ask anyone with information on the truck’s whereabouts to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Glover Avenue

Police said that at about 10:24 am on July 18, motorist Stacey Hirst, 42, of 16 Scudder Road, who was driving a 2006 Volvo XC-70 station wagon, was improperly parked in the eastbound travel lane of Glover Avenue, near Queen Street.

As eastbound motorist Patricia Roberts, 77, of Danbury, who was driving a 2010 Honda CR-V SUV, was approaching the Volvo, Hirst opened the Volvo’s driver’s door and then got out of the station wagon in front of the Honda, after which the Honda struck the Volvo, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Hirst a written warning for improper parking.

Hawleyville DUI

Police report that motorist Marisa Balenski, 33, of Brookfield was driving a 2011 Honda Accord sedan northward on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Currituck Road and Obtuse Road, at about 10:22 am on July 21, when the Honda drove off the right side of the road and entered some brush.

Police said that on their arrival, Balenski was outside the vehicle and then declined medical attention.

After investigating, police charged Balenski with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. After posting $500 bail, police released Balenski for an August 4 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Incident

On the evening of July 20, police received a report about a motorist driving a Ford Escape SUV erratically on South Main Street, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they located the vehicle in question near 49 Queen Street and stopped the driver to investigate.

Police said they charged motorist Amanda Cirella, 19, of 23 Saw Mill Ridge Road with driving under the influence under age 21 and with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

After processing, police released Cirella on $100 bail for an August 4 court appearance.

Parking Lot

At about 3 pm on July 16, town animal shelter employee Amy Sullivan, 49, of 11 Cider Mill Road, who was driving a privately owned 2012 Dodge Durango SUV, backed up in the parking lot at the animal shelter at 21 Old Farm Road and struck a parked unoccupied town-owned 2014 Ford SUV, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
