Life Vest Found
Police report that on July 8 on Hanover Road, a person found a Kidder-brand life vest designed for a female.
Anyone missing such a flotation device may contact Officer William Crone at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841, to claim it.
Oakview Road Accident
At about 3 am on July 13, motorist Rob Franzino, 21, of 12 Housatonic Drive was driving a 2004 Audi A-4 sedan northward on Oakview Road, near Berkshire Road, when while negotiating a curve to the right, the auto went off the left road shoulder and struck a tree, police said.
Franzino refused medical attention, police said. Police said they issued him an infraction for failure to drive to the right.
Warrant
Police said this week that they arrested Adana Nguyen, 21, of Brookfield on July 14 on a warrant, charging her with three counts of fifth-degree larceny in connection with three incidents in January.
Police arrested Nguyen at Danbury Superior Court where she was arraigned on the three charges. Nguyen is scheduled to return to court on August 19.
Nguyen was being held on July 23 at York Correctional Institution in Niantic on $34,000 bail on a variety of pending charges in various towns.
Damaged Fencing
Trucker Carlos Zetino-Salazar, 28, of Wyoming, Mich., was driving a 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer truck through the Deep Brook Road entrance to Dickinson Park when the left-rear section of the vehicle struck some fencing at about 9:30 am on July 15, police report.
Zetino-Salazar was not injured.
Main Street 2-Car Accident
At about 5:30 pm on July 15, motorist Katherine Burger, 55, of 6 Cedar Hill Road, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla southward near 11 Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Blanca Montoya, 32, of Stratford, who was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue SUV, police said.
There were no injuries. Montoya received a written warning for following too closely, police report.
Surrender On Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant against him, Peter Basel, 20, of Trumbull went to the police station about 2 pm on July 16 and was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police report.
Police said the charge stems from an incident that occurred on November 4, 2013, at the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street (Route 25) in Botsford.
After processing, police released Basel on a written promise to appear in court on July 30.
Hawleyville Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the hazardous intersection of Hawleyville Road, Currituck Road, and Obtuse Road about 5:30 pm on July 16. Hawleyville volunteer firefighters responded to the scene.
Police said the collision involved motorist Carmine Mango, 80, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Lincoln Town Car sedan, and motorist Steven Carlson, 44, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2012 Workhorse cargo van.
Carlson received possible injuries, police said. Mango received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
Failure To Appear
Police report they charged Eric Parmelee, 40, of 18 Sunnyview Terrace on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court on July 17, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with a November 2013 incident.
Parmelee was arraigned on the charge that day in court. He is scheduled to return to court on July 24.
Parmelee was being held on $81,000 bail on July 23 at the Bridgeport Correctional Center on a variety of pending charges in various towns.
Multiple Charges
Police report that on July 17, they arrested Gregory Buturla, 24, of Wingdale, N.Y., on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court, charging him with two counts of illegal use of a credit card, and one count each theft of a credit card, receiving money, goods, or services through illegal use of a credit card, third-degree burglary, and sixth-degree larceny. The charges stem from an incident in December 2013.
Buturla was arraigned on the charges and is scheduled to return to court on August 1. On July 23, Buturla was being held on $283,000 bail at the New Haven Correctional Center on a variety of pending charges in various towns.
DUI Arrest
Police said they received a complaint about an erratic driver traveling on Riverside Road, so they responded to investigate about 1:15 am on July 17.
Police said they found the auto in question, which was traveling westward in the eastbound lane with its headlamps off, near 47 Church Hill Road, after which they stopped its driver to investigate.
Police said they charged motorist Michele Musante, 50, of Monroe with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, failure to have headlamps lit, and with an automotive insurance violation.
After processing the case, police released Musante on $100 bail for an August 7 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
Interstate Accident
State police report that at about 3:15 pm on July 17, motorist Sabina Vance, 38, of Southington, who was driving a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner SUV on eastbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet west of Exit 11, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Adam Ebel, 24, of Statesville, N.C., who was driving a 2011 Ford F-350 truck,
There were no injuries. Ebel received a written warning for following too closely, state police said.
Warrants Served
Police report that they executed two warrants against John Dosky, 54, of 15 Jeremiah Road on July 18 at the police station, charging him with two counts of failure to pay or plead to an infraction stemming from the past issuance of an infraction to him for allowing a dog to roam.
After posting $368 bail, Dosky was released for an August 7 court appearance.
South Main Collision
A two-vehicle accident happened on South Main Street at its intersection with Country Club Road about 4:44 pm on July 18.
Motorist William Schubert, 20, of 27 Aunt Park Lane/32 Rosemere Drive, who was driving a 1999 Saab 9-3 two-door hatchback, was traveling northward on South Main Street and attempting to turn left onto westbound Country Club Road, as motorist Kimberly Alworth, 39, of Bethel was driving a 2003 Hyundai Elantra sedan southward on South Main Street, police said.
The two vehicles collided. Both drivers received medical evaluations at the scene and refused further medical attention, police said. Schubert received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way and for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card, according to police.
DUI Incident
Police report that they responded to the area near the intersection of Castle Hill Road and Pumpkin Lane at about 1:49 am on July 19 on a report that an auto accident had occurred there. There were no injuries.
Police report that after investigating, they charged a 17-year-old female motorist with driving under the influence by a minor and with making a restricted turn.
Police said they released the driver on $100 bail for an August 7 court appearance. Because the person arrested was under age 18, police did not disclose an identity.
Hawleyville Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and the end of the off-ramp at Exit 9 of eastbound Interstate 84 at about 6:40 pm on July 19.
The accident involved motorist Ruchina Joon, 34, of The Bronx, N.Y., who was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry sedan, and motorist Lara Baddour, 42, of Bethel, who was driving a Jeep SUV, according to police.
There were no injuries. Joon received a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign, police said.
Eden Hill Road Incident
Police report that motorist Jose Martinez, 35, of Easton was driving a 2006 Chevrolet K-3500 truck westward near 55 Eden Hill Road about 10 pm on July 19, when a deer ran out onto the road.
Martinez swerved to avoid hitting the deer, but the truck struck a utility pole, police said. Martinez was not injured.
Police said they issued Martinez an infraction for failure to drive to the right and for driving an unregistered vehicle.
Intersection Crash
A two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Schoolhouse Hill Road about 11:43 am on July 20.
Motorist Jack Wilson, 20, of Lebanon, N.H., was driving a 1991 Nissan Sentra sedan eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, as motorist Barbara Wojcik, 50, of 25 Horseshoe Ridge Road was driving a 2012 Toyota Highlander SUV southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.
Wilson then entered the intersection of the two roads and the vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Wilson received an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign, police said.
DUI Case
At about 10:40 pm on July 20, police responded to a report concerning an erratic driver traveling southward on South Main Street.
Police said they located the driver in question traveling on South Main Street, near its southern intersection with Pecks Lane. After investigating, police charged motorist Thy Chea, 51, of East Haven with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
Chea was held on $500 bail for a July 21 court appearance, police said.
Key Fob Found
On July 21, a key fob for a Mazda-brand vehicle was found lying on Brushy Hill Road, near John Beach Road. The person who found the item turned it over to police for safekeeping.
Police ask the item’s owner to contact them, at 203-426-5841, to claim it.
Larceny Warrant
Police said that on July 22, they arrested Brian Demers, 44, of Waterbury on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court, lodging one count of sixth-degree larceny against him in connection with a March incident.
Demers was arraigned on the charge and is scheduled to return to court on August 4.
On July 23, Demers was being held on $15,750 bail at the New Haven Correctional Center on a variety of pending charges in various towns.
