Musicals 'Shrek' and 'Annie Jr' At Waterbury Palace Theater, July 26-28
WATERBURY — Tickets are available now for performances of Shrek the Musical and Annie Jr, which will be presented by Sabrina’s Encore Productions LLC and The CT Broadway Stage Company at The Palace Theater July 26-28.
Shrek the Musical will be performed by talented musical theater students including Newtown resident Taylor Varga, winner of the Best Performance By An Actor award in the 2013 National High School Musical Theater competition.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, Shrek The Musical brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life in a show that is part romance, part twisted fairy tale, and all irreverent fun for everyone.
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday, July 26-27, at 7:30 pm, and Saturday afternoon at 1:30.
Meet-and-greet events with the characters from Shrek the Musical will be offered prior to the evening performances and immediately following Saturday’s matinee.
Then on Sunday, July 28, at 2:30 and 5 pm, members of The Children of Newtown Choir and other talented young actors will perform Annie Jr.
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie — the popular comic strip heroine — charms everyone’s hearts and takes center stage in one of the world’s best loved musicals.
With the help of her friends, Annie escapes on a fun filled adventure in New York City, where she finds a family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Tickets for Shrek the Musical range from $18.45 to $33.45 (plus venue and other fees). Tickets for Annie Jr are $21.45 (plus venue and other fees), with $10 student tickets also available at the box office.
To purchase tickets without additional fees, visit the theater’s box office at 100 East Main Street. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 203-346-2000 or by visiting www.PalaceTheatreCT.org.
