Horse Guard Announces Winners At Annual Show
The Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard hosted its annual fundraising Horse Show on July 19, at the 2GHG facility at Fairfield Hills.
The show is recognized by the Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association and the Connecticut Horse Shows Association. Forty riders participated in classes, including English, Western, Hunter, Pleasure, Equitation, Lead-line and Driving.
Major Gordon Johnson was the Chairperson and 2LT Jennifer Mazzara was the show manager. The judges were Richard Lockhardt and Chris Dwyer. Trophies were awarded to three riders: The Governorâs Cup â awarded to the highest scoring Modified Adult Hunter â went to Tiffany Lindeborn riding Fields of Gold; the Town of Newtown Perpetual Trophy â awarded to the highest scoring Short Stirrup Rider â went to Chelsea Lemoine on Clifford; and the Adjutant Generalâs Award - awarded to the highest scoring Childrenâs Hunter â went to Sara Poncavage on Winterdance.

*Junior English Pleasure - Jessica Lynch on Docâs Euclidian
*Open Pleasure Driving and Open Carriage Pleasure Driving - Richard Jones and UC Olympic Star
*Walk Trot Pleasure - Lauren Raad on Lady Te Bar
*Leadline - Donna DiGregioro on Mia Brandfon
*Quarter Horse Hunter U/S - Chloe Janesky on Paramount
The Horse Show is a fundraising event for the Troop. 2GHG is a volunteer state militia unit, serving the Governor and the State of Connecticut under the direction of the Connecticut National Guard. 2GHG is one of the oldest cavalry units in continuous service in the United States and members are dedicated to preserving Cavalry traditions.
