Mary G. Lewis

Mary G. Lewis, 88, formerly of Maple Avenue, Danbury, and Maltbie Road, Newtown, wife of the late Clayton Lewis, died at the Bethel Health Care Center on July 23.

She was born in Danbury, November 3, 1912, daughter of the late Frank and Nogenza Gillotti. Mrs Lewis was a Danbury resident most of her life, a graduate of Danbury High School, and had attended secretarial school. She had worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for many years for the former Hamilton Press in Danbury and later worked for the J.C. Penney Company in Danbury. She was a member of St Joseph Church in Danbury and had been a volunteer at the Danbury Hospital for many years.

Mrs Lewis is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Ivaszuk of Danbury, Leonard Edwards of Danbury, J. Charles Lewis of Newtown, and several grand-nieces and nephews, including Joseph Ivaszuk of Danbury. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph Church, Danbury, on July 26. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery.

 The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.

Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
