DANBURY - Call her Tiger Fiscella.
DANBURY â Call her Tiger Fiscella.
Her real name is Tara, but comparisons â well, letâs just say that comparisons could be fun considering that Fiscella, a 1999 graduate of Newtown High School, blew away the competition at the annual Danbury Amateur Golf Tournament at Richter Park.
Fiscella finished second to Amy Dickinson last year, but this year cruised to the head of the pack and finished 11 strokes ahead of her closest challenger. Fiscella carded a 155 for the 36-hole tournament and Jen Holland, the 1999 tournament champion, came in a distant second at 166.
Fiscella led the tournament after the first round and then took total charge with an even-par 35 on the first nine holes of the second round. She capped off a superb tournament with a birdie on the final hole.
And, okay, while Tiger Woods might win several hundred thousand dollars for his championships, Fiscella did come away with $150.
Larry DiBiccari won the menâs championship flight with a 36-hole score of 147. He won by just two strokes, though, over Brian Halliday and Derek Waddington.
