Goodwill Industries Needs Donations
Goodwill Industries Needs Donations
Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut needs donations of clothing, furniture, and household items in good condition to sell in its Goodwill stores throughout western Connecticut. Donors may drop off items at any Goodwill stores and at the attended donation center at the Newtown transfer/recycling center. Goodwill provides receipts for tax purposes.
Goodwill Industries is a non-profit provider of vocational services for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Recently, the agency opened a daycare center, established a program for people with traumatic brain injuries, expanded welfare-to-work services into the Waterbury and Stamford areas, and started a home health care training program.
Goodwill derives over 60 percent of its operating revenue from the sale of donated goods in its retail stores. To support the expansion in employment and support programs, Goodwill stores are being upgraded. A large new Goodwill store and donation center has just opened in Milford on 321 Boston Post Road. New attended donation centers have been located in Newtown, Watertown, and Ansonia. Collection bins are located in Danbury, Seymour, and Southbury.
