Atlas At Aldrich

RIDGEFIELD — “Speed Of Vision” curator Matthew Yokoboski will conduct a multi-media, interactive interview with the artist Charles Atlas at Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art on Sunday, August 13.

Charles Atlas is a prolific artist with more than 80 films and videotapes to his credit. He is established as one of the most innovative interpreters of dance and performance. Throughout his long career, the theatricality of dance and performance has allowed Mr Atlas to explore the relationship between fantasy and reality, creating what he calls “documentary fictions.”

Mr Atlas has been honored with a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and three Bessie Awards. His films and videos have been featured at venues including the Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of Modern Art, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

His work is also featured in the Aldrich’s current major summer exhibition, “Speed of Light.”

The program on August 13 will offer the audience the opportunity to explore the work of Mr Atlas through video, slides and conversation. The program will begin at 4 pm, and admission is $10 per person. Reservations are required.

The Aldrich Museum is at 258 Main Street/Route 35 in Ridgefield. Call 203/438-4519 for additional information or reservations.
