To the Editor:

Now that the Friends has wrapped up the 44th annual book sale to benefit our town library, we want to thank the volunteers, town officials, school personnel, and local businesses who supported this event. Book sale proceeds underwrite programs, acquisitions (books and media), and special endeavors.

Sincere thanks go to our year-round adult volunteers and the NHS students who do the backbreaking work of moving books, especially the cheerleaders, and girls’ soccer and field hockey teams (coaches Susan Bridges, Marc Kenney, and Stephanie Paproski, respectively).

We extend our gratitude to these town officials and school personnel for their crucial support: First Selectman Dan Rosenthal, Borough Warden Jim Gaston, and Public Works Director Fred Hurley, the library staff and board of trustees, the Land Use Agency and Police Department, Reed Intermediate School principal and staff (especially the custodians), and Kitty Latowicki and Matt Memoli at Newtown High School.

We appreciate the support of Armstrong Movers, Associated Refuse Haulers (Pat Caruso), Bagel Delight (Eunice Laverty), BJ’s, Big Y, Bottle Stop Wine and Spirits, Butcher’s Best (Steve Ford), Caraluzzi’s Market, Carminuccio’s Pizza (Eddie Martino), Cork and Barrel, Costco, Dere Street Bakery, Dunkin’ Donuts (Jeff Dymerski), Fairground Too! Wines and Liquors, Franco’s Pizza and Pasta (Marcio Dos Santos), My Place Restaurant (Louise Tambascio), Newtown Savings Bank, People’s United Bank, Pudelz Tee Shirts (Jane Hellman), Shadow Graphics (Jules Falconer), Stew Leonard’s, Subway, Tambascio’s Italian Grill (John Tambascio), Tracy Van Buskirk, Villarina’s, and Yankee Wine and Spirits.

We couldn’t have a book sale without the books and other items donated by our neighbors, so many thanks to you as well. The 45th annual summer book sale is already on the drawing boards!

Sincerely,

Denise A. Kaiser, 2019 Book Sale Chairperson
