Democrat And Republican Political Committees Endorse Slates For November Elections

Newtown’s Republican and Democratic Town Committees held endorsement caucuses Thursday, July 18, and selected their slates of endorsed incumbents seeking reelection and newcomers hoping to make their mark through community service on various boards and commissions.

According to information filed by the committees, unless he is challenged by an Independent or petitioning candidate, First Selectman Dan Rosenthal will face no opposition for the town’s top elected seat. Mr Rosenthal previously announced in The Newtown Bee that he would seek reelection along with his running mate and incumbent Selectman Maureen Crick Owen.

Local Republicans have nominated incumbent Selectman Jeff Capeci for another term as well.

Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers: *Margot Hall The RTC released the following statement with its list of candidates: "At tonight’s Newtown Republican caucus the recommended slate of candidates was unanimously approved! This is a very strong ticket with caring residents who will provide the dedication and oversight Newtown residents deserve in their representation."

Local elections are scheduled for Tuesday, November 5. Slates are subject to change and/or substitutions — any Democrat or Republican can contact their respective Town Committees for information or to volunteer.

It was revealed that incumbent Democratic First Selectman will be running for reelection unopposed after local GOP and Democratic Town Committees announced their November election slates following caucuses at Edmond Town Hall July 18.
