To the Editor:

When I attended the ribbon cutting of our new Community and Senior Centers, I was very pleased to see so many people present for this outstanding event. The centers are works of art, magnificently constructed, and will bring much pleasure and joy to all those who will be attending. During the ceremonies, the many people responsible for making this event possible were acknowledged and thanked.

However, I have to confess that while the ceremony was going on, my thoughts went to one person who was not present, and that was Marilyn Place [former longtime Senior Center director]. I felt very sorry that she, who was instrumental in helping to get the new Senior Center constructed, was not acknowledged in any way. My heart goes out to this fine woman who kept the Newtown [Senior] Center running for so many years, who missed this important event.
