Neighborhood Changes Opposed

To the Editor:

We are writing to add our voices to those of our fellow neighbors with the concerns and opinions for the proposed work on Orchard Hill Road, as we were unable to attend the Friday morning meeting.

We moved to Newtown in 1977 because it was a beautiful rural town. It is disheartening to watch it change! Removing the island and widening the road would destroy the country character of the neighborhood and invite more traffic at greater speeds. In all the years that we have lived here, we have been unaware of any traffic problems around the island. We believe the island should remain and be replanted.

Also, we should be notified well in advance and be allowed to vote on what happens to our neighborhood. It is our neighborhood and our money!
