John Sherwood
John Sherwood, 58, beloved husband of Joanne Barry Sherwood of Monroe, died July 20 in his home following a long illness.
He was the brother of Richard Sherwood of Sandy Hook.
Born in Bridgeport on August 3, 1942, he was the son of the late Agnes (Slez) Cook. Mr Sherwood was resident of Monroe for 45 years and worked as a truck driver for the Best Foods Company of Greenwich until the time of his illness. He was a 30-year member of the Teamsters Union, Local 707. Mr Sherwood will be remembered for his love of gardening and gourmet cooking.
Besides his wife, he is survived by devoted children, Daniel John Sherwood of Monroe and Colleen Sherwood Ryan of California; sisters, Kathleen Fernandez of New York and Diane Markey of Milford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, Mr Sherwood was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann Gamble, and stepfather, J.W. Cook.
Funeral services took place on July 23 in the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike (Route 111), Monroe. Interment was in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe.
