Dodgingtown Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 8:45 pm July 21 at the traffic signal at the intersection of Route 302 and Taunton Hill Road in Dodgingtown.
Motorist Peggy E. Jones, 46, of Woodbury was driving a 1997 Honda sedan westbound on Route 302 and failed to obey the traffic signal, striking a 1993 Dodge Caravan minivan driven by Mark Alan Kale, 19, of Taunton Hill Road, as the minivan was turning from Taunton Hill Road into the intersection, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Jones a written warning for failure to obey a state traffic control signal.
Moving Violations
Police said they stopped motorist Charles Dorey, 30, of 159 Huntingtown Road at about 8 pm July 20 on Hattertown Road after they saw him driving quickly.
Police said they charged Dorey with traveling too fast and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Dorey is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Rearrest Warrant
Police said Kerry Perran, 34, of 160 South Main Street turned herself in to police July 20 after learning that they held an outstanding warrant on her.
Police charged Perran with second-degree failure to appear in court, failure to obey a state traffic control signal, and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.
The original motor vehicle charges stem from a May 18 incident in which Perran turned left from westbound Mile Hill Road onto southbound South Main Street on a red traffic signal, police said.
Police released Perran on a $250 bond for an August 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Key Rock Collision
Motorist Robert J. Lowman, Jr, 32, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1994 Dodge van, came to a stop at a stop sign on Key Rock Road at Key Rock Roadâs intersection with Route 302 about 4:40 pm July 19, police said.
The Dodge then proceeded forward, but stopped for traffic, and was struck from behind by motorist Mimi H. Southard, 23, of Redding, who was driving a 1995 Subaru Legacy station wagon, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Southard for unsafe movement.
Motorcycle Crash
Motorist Richard D. Woycik, 58, of 36 Grand Place, who was driving a 1990 Ford Taurus, attempted to pull out of eastbound Country Club Road onto South Main Street about 5:30 pm July 20, but in doing so, the Ford pulled in front of an oncoming 1993 BMW motorcycle driven by Vaughn E. Clark, 55, of Woodbury, resulting in a collision, police said.
Clark received arm and leg cuts, police said. Police verbally warned Woycik for failure to grant the right of way.
Hawleyville Charges
State police report they charged Charles R. Loliberte, 37, of Waterbury about 9:40 am July 22 with three motor vehicle counts at the Exit 9 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate 84 in Hawleyville.
State police charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, misuse of marker plates, and failure to carry automotive insurance.
State police released Loliberte on a $1,000 bond for an August 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Exit 9 Collision
State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9 in Hawleyville about 3:45 pm July 20.
Motorist John Scalzo, 53, of Danbury was driving a 2000 Nissan Sentra in heavy traffic and stopped, after which he was struck from behind by motorist Frederick Dibble, 46, of Meriden, who was driving a 1996 Dodge pickup truck, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Dibble was following too closely.
I-84 Accident
State police report a two-car crash on eastbound Interstate 84 about 5:30 pm July 19.
Motorist Sergio DeSousa, 20, of Danbury was driving a 1993 Ford sedan in the left lane in heavy, stop-and-go rush hour traffic, when he swerved to the right to avoid stopped traffic ahead of him, but in swerving the Ford struck a 1997 Mazda sedan driven by Angel Harris, 24, of Danbury.
There were no injuries. State police said DeSousa was following too closely.
Residential Vandalism
Police said they learned July 22 of an overnight instance of vandalism at a High Bridge Road home.
Someone dented a mailbox and also shot paintballs at the front of the house. The paintball paint washed away with water. Police are investigating.
Lost And Found
Police reported on July 23 that they found a white mailbox with its cedar post still attached. The person who owns the missing mailbox may claim it at the police station.
Boggs Hill Crash
Police report that motorist Patrick J. Quinn, 16, of 3 Ridge Road backed a 1993 Jeep Wrangler out of a driveway at 89 Boggs Hill Road about 6 pm July 16, after which the vehicle stalled in the road.
Quinn was able to restart the Jeep but then collided with a southbound 1998 BMW 323-IC driven by Michael Jones, 34, of Glen Allen, Virginia, police said. The BMW had been waiting for the Jeep to clear the road, police said. There were no injuries.
Police verbally warned Quinn for making an unsafe movement.
Sandy Hook DUI
Police said they observed motorist Reid Ferris, 21, of 38 Old Farm Road stopped at a stop sign on Oakview Road at its intersection with Mile Hill Road about 3:15 am on July 24. Police said they saw Ferris asleep in the vehicle.
Police report that they approached the vehicle, after which Ferris pulled away. Police then stopped Ferris, investigated and gave him sobriety tests, which he failed, according to their report.
Police charged Ferris with driving under the influence. After processing, police released him for an August 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Criminal Mischief
Police said they received a report on the afternoon of July 21 concerning vandalism on South Main Street.
Police said a red Ford Mustang, which had been traveling northbound on South Main Street near the northerly intersection of South Main Street and Pecks Lane, crossed into the southbound lane and rode along the southbound road shoulder, struck two mailboxes and then left the area.
DUI Rearrest Warrant
Newtown police said they received information on the evening of July 24 that Danbury police had apprehended Jeffery Schmeltz, 48, of Unit #9, 55 Sugar Street, for whom Newtown police held a rearrest warrant.
Newtown police transported Schmeltz to Newtown where they charged him on a rearrest warrant with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and evading responsibility. The motor vehicle charges stem from a June 26 incident in Newtown.
Police said they held Schmeltz overnight for a July 25 court appearance.

 Shoplifting Charge
Police said they received a call from store security personnel at Super Stop & Shop at Sand Hill Plaza about 5 pm July 25 alerting them to a shoplifting incident.
Police said they investigated and charged Eileen H. Tesch, 67, of 6 Grand Place with sixth-degree larceny in connection with the alleged theft of three packs of cigarettes.
Police released Tesch on a promise to appear August 8 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Truck Vs Baby Carriage
Police report that at about 1:50 pm July 25, town worker Clarence E. Pittman, 54, of Waterbury backed up a 2001 Chevrolet town truck at Treadwell Park, striking a baby carriage which held Sophie Spenser, 9 months old, of 27 Eden Hill Road.
A coworker had gestured for Pittman to stop backing up the truck, police said. Although the truck dented the baby carriage, the baby was uninjured, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene to check out the baby.
South Main Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident on South Main St at Sand Hill Plaza about 3 pm July 20.
Police said motorist Ashley Ferro, 16, of Monroe, who was driving a 2001 GMC Jimmy northbound, approached a traffic signal and was turning left into the plaza, when the GMC collided with southbound motorist Trevor D. Link, 21, of Easton, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported two passengers in the GMC, Patricia Carmo, 16, of Monroe, and Hannah Kuhn, 16, of Monroe, to Danbury Hospital, police said.Police issued Ferro an infraction ticket on charges of failure to yield and failure to carry automotive insurance.
