A New Gardening Adventure For Children
A New Gardening Adventure For Children
BETHLEHEM â The Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden and The Bethlehem Public Library are offering summer garden reading programs this summer on Wednesdays in August from 1:30 to 2:30 each week.
Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to participate in the new venture, which will feature book-based activities followed by a hands-on garden component. Each program will be held at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden; in the event of inclement weather, the program will be at Bethlehem Public Library.
The purpose of the program is to encourage children to learn more about the earth, nature and gardening through a series of readings, hands-on activities, and garden walks. Refreshments will be served after each program.
Each program has a theme with the readings and activities related to it.
Fragrance will be the topic of the August 8 program, with participants examining why things are scented and experience the different fragrances, both pleasant and not so pleasant.
On August 15, the discussion and program will concern trees â why they are important to humans and the earth, and how they affect our lives.
To reserve a space, call Bethlehem Public Library at 203-266-7792. Space is limited, so reservations are being suggested.
