First Selectman Pat Llodra and School Superintendent Dr Joseph V. Erardi invite Newtown residents to an open house at the newly completed Sandy Hook Elementary School, 12 Dickinson Drive, on Friday, July 29. The open house will run from 5 to 8 pm.

"Before classes begin in September, we're opening our doors to the residents of Newtown and inviting them to see the new Sandy Hook Elementary School. Sandy Hook is starting a new chapter, and we want to share this experience with a community that has always supported us," said Dr Erardi.

"Our goal was to create a place of community and learning, a place that would honor those we lost, and allow those who were left behind, the chance to move forward," said First Selectman Llodra. "I hope everyone who comes to see this new building takes away from it these ideals."

The new school will open its doors for the first time to students at the beginning of the 2016-07 academic year.
