Roxbury, Southbury Hosting Hospital Physician Talks

ROXBURY — Danbury Hospital and the Roxbury Senior Center invite the community to a discussion on “Geriatric Health Care Concerns” with geriatric specialist Agata Jaskiewicz-Poznaska, MD, as guest speaker. She is associated with the Southbury Primary Care.

The program is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, at noon, at the Roxbury Senior Center, 7 South Street.

Dr Jaskiewicz-Poznaska will provide an overview of some common diseases experienced by people as they age, such as diabetes, heart events, high blood pressure, and memory loss.

She will also give valuable tips on how to best manage health care as we age, and the importance of a good communication relationship with physicians.

This program is free and open to the public with a light lunch being served. Registration is requested by calling the Roxbury Senior Center at 860-210-0056.

Then, for men who want to stay active, on Tuesday, August 2, at 8:30 am, orthopedic surgeon Robert Deveney will present “What’s New in Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery” at Watermark at East Hill, 611 East Hill Road, Southbury.

He will discuss innovations in implant design and composition, as well as how these changes affect the functional outcome of the person undergoing joint replacement.

Dr Deveney is co-director of the Joint Replacement Program at Danbury Hospital. He is Fellowship trained in adult reconstructive surgery, with a special interest in disorders of the hip and knee. Dr Deveney is in private practice with Danbury Orthopedic Associates and sees patients in both Southbury and Danbury.
