Matthew & Kathryn Benson

Former Newtown resident Kathryn Lynne Daugherty married Matthew Joseph Benson of Sandy Hook on May 1, 2011.

Kathryn, the daughter of Bonnie and John Daugherty of Newtown, was given into marriage by her father. Pastor Timothy Blow officiated the ceremony, which took place at The Waterview in Monroe. A reception followed, at the same location.

Matron of honor was Kristen McDougall.

Meghan Russ, Taylor Benson, Boni Oliver were the bridesmaids. All dresses, including the bride’s, were from David’s Bridal, and Flowers By Nancy handled the floral arrangements.

Stephen Moulthrop was Matthew’s best man, while Garry Kuehner, Joseph Kuehner, Mitchell Kuehner, and David Morrison all served as ushers.

Lily Oliver was the flower girl, Noah McDougall was ring bearer, and Danielle Morrison and Jennifer Shute were usherettes.

Matthew is the son of Donna and Jason Benson of Newtown.

He graduated from Newtown High School with the same class as his wife. He has also graduated from Southern Connecticut State University, and is employed as a store manager for Men’s Wearhouse.

Kathryn is a member of Newtown High School’s Class of 2005. She graduated from the University of Hartford, magna cum laude, in 2010. She is an adjunct professor in interior design at the University of Bridgeport.
