Lattimore With Landscape In Oil, Next SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a free program by Andrew Lattimore, who will create a landscape using oils, on Wednesday, July 27, at 1:30 pm. He will be painting a scene influenced by the Hudson Valley.
The program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) in Newtown.
Andrew Lattimore has lived in the Hudson Valley Region for most of his life. His interest in art developed at a very young age when he knew that art would be his lifeâs pursuit. As a professional artist for nearly 30 years, he has remained true to his initial endeavor âthe pursuit of truthful beauty in human creativity.â
Mr Lattimore attended the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York studying with Daniel Greene, Edmond Fitzgerald and Harvey Dinnerstein. He studied life drawing and anatomy with artist and anatomist Stephen R. Peck, the author of Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist. He also attended the Aademia di Belle Arti and Studio Simi in Florence, Italy.
His paintings are in collections throughout the US, Italy, France, Great Britain and Hong Kong. Several galleries in California, Florida, Massachusetts and New York represent him.
His studio is located in a former turn-of-the-century textile mill in Cornwall, N.Y. There he also teaches a weekly painting and drawing class as well as conducts workshops in Italy and the United States.
