Copper Theft

Police report that sometime between May and the beginning of July, someone forced entry into the basement of a vacant house on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with North Ridge Drive, and stole between 150 feet and 200 feet of copper plumbing pipe.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary/larceny to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Three Charges

After learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, a boy turned himself over to police at the police station on July 20 and was charged with second-degree threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace, police said.

Police started an investigation into a complaint on June 15, after learning that the boy had allegedly threatened another student while on a Newtown public school bus in February.

Police said the arrested youth was released and is scheduled to appear on August 8 in Danbury Juvenile Court. Because the person arrested in under age 18, his identity is shielded from public disclosure by state law.
