Broderick To Offer Portrait In Oil Demonstration
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Jack Broderick and a demonstration of creating a portrait in oil on Wednesday, July 26, at 1:30 pm. The program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
The demonstration is open to the public, and admission is free.
A plein air painter and studio painter, Broderick uses both image and feeling in developing his paintings. To him, painting is a collaboration of artist and subject whether the subject is a model, a landscape, or a still life.
“Art is a conversation,” he says.
Broderick has traveled and painted extensively in Ireland, Argentina, Spain, Cuba, and Italy. He has exhibited internationally in Paris, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Palermo, and Tilcara.
Eastern Connecticut is his home, and the land and the people of the area are the subjects of many of his paintings. He teaches painting and drawing at his studio in The Mill Works, Willington.
Reservations are not taken but additional information for SCAN programs may be found at SCANart.org.
