Many Supporters Helped 46th Annual Book Sale
To the Editor,
The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library 46th annual book sale was a resounding success, thanks to the donors, volunteers, town and school officials, local businesses, and of course our generous neighbors who donated the books and other items that made the sale possible.
We are grateful to all of our volunteers, but especially to those who volunteer year-round. Thanks also go to members of the NHS girls’ cheerleading squad and girls’ soccer team (coaches Susan Bridges, Marc Kenney, respectively), and many other local students who helped us move the books and assist during the sale.
Town officials and school personnel provide support throughout the year and especially at book sale time. Many thanks go to First Selectman Dan Rosenthal, Borough Warden Jim Gaston, and Public Works Director Fred Hurley; the Land Use Agency and Police Department; District Director of Facilities Bob Gerbert, RIS Principal Matt Correia and staff (especially the custodians), and Noreen Morgenstern and Matt Memoli at NHS. The library director, staff, and board of trustees earn our gratitude daily.
We appreciate the support of Armstrong Moving and Storage, Associated Refuse Haulers, Bagel Delight, Big Y, Blue Colony Diner, Caraluzzi’s Markets, Carminuccio’s Pizza, Costco, Dodgingtown Market & Deli, Dunkin’, Durants Party Rentals, Franco’s Pizza & Pasta, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Savings Bank, Phinney’s, Project Pizza, Pudelz T-Shirts, Sal e Pepe, Stew Leonard’s, and Stop & Shop.
Last but not least, many thanks to The Newtown Bee for its excellent coverage of this much-loved Newtown summer event.
Income from the book sale provides a major portion of the Friends’ annual grant to Newtown’s wonderful C.H. Booth Library for programs, the acquisition of books and media, and various special endeavors.
Sincerely,
Richard A. Anthony, President
