Grabowski Returning For SCAN Artist Demonstration
On Wednesday, July 27, The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host James Grabowski, who will demonstrate painting a landscape in oil.
The free program will begin at 1:30 pm in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.
For over 30 years, Mr Grabowski has been beautifying the business world by adding a touch of the New England landscape to walls of otherwise nondescript corporate office spaces.
He works in a surprising variety of styles, from work which evokes abstract expressionism to impressionistic renderings of the Connecticut River Valley. The majority of his paintings are landscapes of hillsides, lakes and pastures dominated by imposing clouds.
"I like to paint things that would make me smiles if I came upon them in nature," said Mr Grabowski, who has been a popular guest of SCAN in the past. "I love working for big corporations because they have the space to exhibit. You've always got to be able to take your work out to the public."
He has had paintings purchased by companies like IBM, Delta Airlines, and Xerox. In addition, Mr Grabowski recently had one of his paintings acquired by New Britain Museum of American Art for its permanent collection.
Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654.
