Animals Teach Kindness At The Library
Usually the only wild animals at C.H. Booth Library are found on the pages of books, but on July 15, frogs, turtles, a hedgehog, and more made their way through the library doors for the Athletes of the Animal Kingdom presentation.
Director and Founder of Animal Embassy Chris Evers was atÃÂ the library to give the animal show as part of the library's summer reading program for children. He brought a variety of animals, including an owl, chinchilla, and scorpion to teach children, not only about wildlife, but kindness, as well.
"Let's all be the best that we can be to each other, animals, and the earth," Mr Evers said.
He also encouraged children to "not judge a book by its cover" when it comes to animals, because they all have different features needed for survival. He added that the same goes for judging people as well.
"My message to the kids is always appreciation of life and the diversity of life," Mr Evers added after the show.
The children in attendance were able to interact with some of the animals by holding and petting them.
Mr Evers also explained to the children that wild animals should stay in the wild. Most of the animals in the show were once pets, he added. Animal Embassy rescued the animals when their owners did not take proper care of them.
Animal Embassy owns close to 200 animals from habitats all over the world, Mr Evers said, they also give shows at schools, from kindergarten through college, and birthday parties.
"It went very well," Mr Evers said of the show at the library. "[I saw] quite a few familiar faces [from other shows]."
