Many Made House And Garden Tour A Success
To the Editor:
I would like to take a moment to thank the many people who made our 19th Annual Newtown Historical Society House and Garden Tour on June 28th so successful. Despite the rain which did, in fact, cut down attendance, it was a good day. It was made possible by David and Betsy Kerr, David and July Beers, Chris Lincoln, Ed and Arline Shanley, Don and Jane Sharpe, George and Ellie Whalen and Eric and Cyndy Da Silva. They were the people who so graciously opened their homes and gardens to our visitors.
We are grateful to our sponsors: Caraluzzi’s, Big Y, Taunton Wine and Liquor, Beth Caldwell, UPS Newtown, the C. H. Booth Library, the Inn at Newtown, Mary Thomas and long time contributor, Cathy Masi. One lady stands out and that is Jo-Ann Scebold who not only sponsored our event but was in charge of the party for docents and homeowners that was held afterward and proved very festive.
The event would not have been possible without our wonderful committee of Ginny Carey, Mary Thomas, Cindy Galberson, Barbara Wilson, Andrea Zimmerman, Nancy Crevier and Lincoln Sanders. They worked tirelessly to bring the event to fruition. And we could never put on a house and garden tour without the help of the many docents who manned the houses and gardens and answered questions. Many thanks to you!
Lastly, we thank the people who braved the rain and visited our properties. Your support is always what makes this possible. We look forward to you coming again next year for our gala 20th house and garden tour!
Sincerely,
Gordon M. Williams
