To the Editor:

June 11, 2014 was an extremely proud day for Newtown in that we held our 25th Annual  Summer Breakfast at the Waterview on behalf of the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice and Home Care.

We are proud of so many of our achievements over the years, including having a strong support base of attendees, raffle prize donors, volunteers, publicity by The Bee, and The Waterview with its beautiful setting, and the staff of the Waterview who donated their time to serve all of us.

The breakfast was delicious as always and the raffle was very well received again.  The raffle donors outdid themselves this year and the prizes were magnificent!  We can’t thank you all enough.  We wish we could name you each but the list is so long.  You all know how very much your contribution means.

Cynthia Roy, president and CEO of Regional Hospice, provided us with an update of the Hospice residence  in Danbury.  How wonderful it is coming along so quickly and so well.  The speaker, Chris Mastropietro, RN, was very impressive. Her background as a certified specialist in the hospice care of patients 18 years of age and under and adult hospice clients and their families, is one Regional Hospice is grateful for and appreciates very much.

We are also very appreciative of the hard work the committee put into making this the huge success it was.  Committee members are Marilyn Alexander, Janet Hovious, Colleen Honan, Ellyn Gehrett, Linda Trentacosta and Laurie Wrable.  Nancy Crevier of The Bee was most gracious and covered this event very professionally.  We also thank Beth Myer and Karen Aurelia for helping sell raffle tickets this year.

The many compliments we received only confirmed how wonderful this morning was and we look forward to the next breakfast in 2015.  The good news is that we raised $25,234.50 this year – which we know will be put to good use.  Thank you all!
