Trolley Tours Of Historic Fairfield

FAIRFIELD —Fairfield Historical Society will offer historic trolley tours on two Sundays this summer, July 23 and August 20. The tours will begin at 2 pm and will last about 90 minutes. The July tour will be led by Historical Society board member Tom Grant and the August tour by First Selectman Kenneth Flatto. Both are avid local historians.

The tours have been created to retrace the major trolley routes that helped shape today’s Fairfield. The guided excursion will visit important places in Fairfield’s history such as Old Post Road Historic District, Stratfield, Southport and Greenfield Hill.

Beginning at Fairfield Historical Society, 636 Old Post Road, the trolley will make “stops” along the way, including Ogden House and Gardens on Bronson Road, an 18th Century saltbox farmhouse owned and operated by the society.

Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Call the society soon at 203-259-1598 to reserve a place, as the trolley only accommodates 25 passengers.
