To the Editor,

Once again, The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library annual book sale was a resounding success! We thank the donors, volunteers, town and school officials, local businesses, and of course our generous neighbors who donated the books and other items that made this, our 47th sale, possible.

We are grateful to all of our volunteers, but especially to those who volunteer year-round. Thanks also go to members of the NHS girls’ cheerleading squad and boys’ football team (coaches Susan Bridges, Dan Farina, respectively), and many other local students who helped us move and set up the books and assist during the sale.

Town officials and school personnel provide support throughout the year and especially at book sale time. Many thanks go to First Selectman Dan Rosenthal, and all those who helped from the Borough of Newtown, the Public Works Department, the Land Use Agency, District Facilities Office and Police Department. Especially helpful were RIS Principal Matt Correia and staff (especially the custodians), and Noreen Morgenstern and Matt Memoli at NHS.

We appreciate the support of Armstrong Moving & Storage, Associated Refuse Haulers, Bagel Delight, Big Y, Bill Glass Photography, Blue Colony Diner, Boy Scout Troop 70, Caraluzzi’s Markets, Carminuccio’s Pizza, Costco, Dodgingtown Market, Dunkin’, Durant’s Party Rentals, Franco’s Pizza & Pasta, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Savings Bank, Phinney’s, Project Pizza, Pudlez T-Shirts, Sal e Pepe, Stew Leonard and Stop & Shop.

Last but not least, many thanks to The Newtown Bee and its attentive staff for excellent coverage of this much-loved Newtown summer event.

Income from the book sale provides a major portion of the Friends’ annual grant to Newtown’s wonderful C.H. Booth Library for programs, the acquisition of books and media, and various special endeavors. As always, the library’s director, staff and board of trustees earn our daily appreciation.

Sincerely,

Richard A. Anthony

President, Friends of the C.H. Booth Library
