Queen Street Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision about 5:54 pm on July 12 in front of Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street.
Police report the accident involved motorist Susan Ehrens, 41, of 23 Flat Swamp Road, who was driving a 2005 Volvo XC90-25T station wagon, and motorist Brian Donnelly, 49, of 2 Longview Heights Road, who was driving a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Ehrens a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Warrant
Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, a Southbury man came to the police station on the afternoon of July 12 and was charged with three violations stemming from a motor vehicle incident that occurred on the evening April 6 on Glen Road in Sandy Hook.
Police said they charged Thomas A. Macek, Jr, 54, with reckless driving, failure to drive a reasonable distance apart with the intent to harass, and passing in a no-passing zone. Macek was driving a motorcycle during the incident, police have said.
Police released Macek on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 26.
DUI Case
Police said that at about 3:47 am on July 14 on Cherry Street, they stopped motorist Jennifer Marie Brewer, 21, of 203 Walnut Tree Hill Road to investigate.
Police said they charged Brewer with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
After she posted $160 bail, Brewer was released for a July 31 court appearance, police said.
Vehicular Vandalism
Police report a case of vehicular vandalism at a residential property on Main Street, near Currituck Road.
Police said that someone on the evening of July 13 or the early morning of July 14, broke the left rear passenger window of a vehicle that was parked in the propertyâs driveway.
Police learned of the incident midday on July 14. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Taunton Lake Road
At about 6:04 pm on July 13, motorist Shannon Panasiuk, 19, of 29 New Lebbon Road, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla sedan, was traveling eastward near 52 Taunton Lake Road, according to police.
At that time, a SUV was traveling westward on Taunton Lake Road, police said.
As the two vehicles passed one another, Panasiuk overcorrected the Toyotaâs steering to the right and struck some curbing, police report. The two vehicles did not make contact. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Panasiuk for making a restricted turn.
Basketball Hoop
Motorist Claire Horner, 62, of Port St Lucie, Fla., was driving a 2008 Infiniti G35-X sedan eastward on Hunting Ridge Road at about 8:40 pm on July 5, when she suddenly erroneously made a right turn, resulting in the passenger side of the auto striking a portable basketball backboard/hoop which was located off of the roadway, police report.
Hunting Ridge Road is a dead-end street that extends from Flat Swamp Road.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Horner for making a restricted turn.
Sandy Hook Collision
Motorist Jordan Ashby, 19, of 7 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 1992 Toyota Camry sedan westward on Crestwood Drive at about 9:47 pm on July 7, slid into that streetâs intersection with Washington Avenue and collided with a 2003 Jaguar X-Type sedan which was being driven northward on Washington Avenue by Stephen Leopold, 20, of Shelton, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said Ashby received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Marlin Road
Police report they were dispatched to a Marlin Road home at about 2:37 pm on July 13 on a report that an unknown and unwanted person was inside the residence.
Police said they learned on arriving that the unwanted person was not then in the house. Police said that they then located the suspect at his house. Six police responded to the call.
Police said they charged Christopher Mulligan, 18, of 44 Botsford Hill Road with first-degree criminal trespassing. Mulligan was released on a written promise to appear in court on July 26, police said.

Sedan Hits Pole
Motorist Brandon Wunderlich, 18, of Hopewell Junction, NY, was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima sedan westward on Currituck Road, near its intersection with Brennan Road, at about 9:13 pm on July 15, when he lost control of the auto due to wet road conditions and then struck a utility pole on the right road shoulder, police said.
Wunderlich was not injured. Police said they issued Wunderlich an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
Intersection Accident
At about 4:19 pm on July 11 at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road, motorist John W. Miller, III, 57, of Stevenson, who was driving a 2010 Ford Ranger pickup truck, stopped in order to yield to an emergency vehicle, police said.
The Ford was then struck from behind by a 2011 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Michelle Demers, 40, of New Haven, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Demers a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Warrant
Police report that at about 6:47 am on July 18, they stopped motorist George P. Zachos, Jr, 28, of 56 Glen Road for traveling 40 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone near 50 Poverty Hollow Road. Police said they verbally warned Zachos for traveling fast.
Police said that a computerized records check indicated there was a pending warrant for Zachosâs arrest. Police said they then charged Zachos with second-degree failure to appear in court, disorderly conduct, and second-degree criminal mischief.
Wilton police had charged Zachos with disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief in April 2005. In August 2005, a judge in Norwalk Superior Court issued the rearrest warrant for failure to appear in court.
Newtown police said they held Zachos on $500 bail for a July 18 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
MV Charges
Police said on July 17 that they stopped motorist Arthur Randall, 42, of 4 Botsford Hill Road for traveling 44 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone on Swamp Road.
Police said that after investigating, they charged Randall with traveling unreasonably fast, driving a vehicle while under suspension, failure to carry a vehicle registration, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police said they released Randall on a written promise to appear in court on August 7.
Furniture Stolen
Police report they are investigating the theft of numerous pieces of plastic and metal patio furniture from the Newtown Senior Center at 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.
Police said they learned that the furniture was taken from the property within the last month.
The missing furniture includes: 20 white heavy-duty plastic Rubbermaid-brand chairs, one plastic table, one metal table, a blue shade umbrella, two white plastic umbrella stands, and one white metal umbrella stand.
Police ask anyone with information on the theft to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Trespassing
Police said that after learning that police held an arrest warrant, an unidentified person turned himself/herself over to police at the police station on the morning on July 17 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and with simple trespassing.
Police said that the person had been issued an infraction for simple trespassing in the past, but did not respond to it, so they obtained an arrest warrant for the person.
The person posted $92 bail and was released from custody for an August 1 appearance in court, police said.
Because the person charged was under age 18 when the original incident occurred, he/she is considered a youthful offender and the personâs identity is not disclosed by police.
South Main Accident
At about 10:20 pm on July 15, motorist Danielle Chalk, 19, of Monroe, who was driving a Pontiac Sunfire coupe, pulled out from the driveway at 48 South Main Street and then stopped, police said.
At that time, motorist Dalip Egriu, 46, of Stratford was driving a Toyota Tercel coupe southward on South Main Street, police report.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Chalk a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
