Oliver Powers, son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Powers of Newtown, recently graduated with honors from Salisbury School during commencement exercises on June 1. Oliver received the Josephine Bauman Rudd Prize, the Corkery Medal, and he was also awarded the Joseph A. Sartori Award. During his four-year tenure at Salisbury, Oliver was a three sport varsity athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He has signed a four-year baseball scholarship to play at Radford University, Radford, VA.
The following area residents were named to the deanâs list at Providence College, R.I., for the spring 2012 semester: Jennifer Lynn of Newtown, Danielle Norris of Sandy Hook, Adam Schankman of Newtown, and Casey Tenney of Sandy Hook. To qualify for the deanâs list at the college, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.
Emily Rose Floros was named to the Deanâs List at the University of Delaware, Newark, Del., for the spring 2012 semester at the college.

Emily McInerney earned the Scott Schwartz â91 Drama Award, Corey Allred and Emily McInerney earned National Merit Scholarship Commendations, Nicole Lang earned the Cordelia Manning Service to the Arts, and Corey Allred and Nicole Lang earned the Cum Laude Society.
Alexandra Saboe of Newtown and Kim-Li Tran of Sandy Hook earned deanâs list honors at Cabrini College, Radnor, Penn., for the collegeâs spring 2012 semester.
Joshua Engler, Newtown, was named to the deanâs list at the State University of New York at New Paltz for the spring 2012 semester. Deanâs list designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load at the university.

Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, in Rochester, N.Y.
Margaret Morrissey of Newtown was named to the spring 2012 deanâs list at Loyola University Maryland, Baltimore. In order to qualify for the deanâs list at Loyola, a student must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
Katherine Lynn Miller of Sandy Hook was named to the Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, deanâs list. A 3.5 or better grade point average for second semester 2011â2012 earned a place on the deanâs list recognizing academic performance.
