John Joseph Ullo
John Joseph Ullo, 65, of Trinity, Fla., formerly of Newtown and Belmont, Mass., died suddenly July 11. He was born July 7, 1947, in Belmont.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia (Haug) Ullo; daughter Megan E. Ullo of Arlington, Va.; brothers Robert C. Ullo of Lunenberg, Mass. and Thomas E. Ullo of Tewksbury, Mass; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jonathan Robert; his father Guy Joseph Ullo and his mother Doris May (Hawes) Ullo.
Mr Ullo grew up outside of Boston, graduated from Belmont High in 1965, received his bachelor of science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1969, and his PhD in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After a short stint at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, he was employed by Schlumberger Oilfield Services for more than 35 years. He loved his work as a research scientist both in oil exploration and other energy fields. He âretiredâ from Schlumberger in 2009; however, he continued to consult for the firm, and various other companies and universities through John Ullo LLC, a technical consulting company, specializing in nanotechnology.
Mr Ulloâs work took the family to various states and for an assignment in Surrey, England. âHomeâ remained their beloved house in Brewster on Cape Cod. He continued to play golf often and catch a Red Sox game whenever he could.
A funeral service was held July 18. Interment was at Brewster Memorial Cemetery in Massachusetts.
