Francis ‘David’ Ryan
Francis “David” Ryan, 84, of Brookfield, formerly of Newtown, passed away on Saturday, July 13, peacefully at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.
David was born in Danbury, a son of Harold Joseph Ryan and Alice May Winslow Ryan. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1958. David served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963, stationed in Germany.
David was a roofer and sheet metal worker with Union Local 38 for most of his adult life until he retired at 60 years old.
He was a volunteer firefighter with Phoenix Hose Co. #8 in Danbury for 65 years.
He was also an avid league bowler for many years.
David is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Patten, and her husband, Joseph, as well as his grandchildren: Justin Patten and Jessica Patten.
Also surviving are his stepsons: Paul Marron and his wife, Karen; Lawrence Marron; and Stephen Marron and his wife, Karen; as well as grandchildren Chrysta, Paul Mathew, Ryan, Ashley; and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Wetmore; and Dorothy Souza and her husband, Antone; and Elayne Anderson and her husband, William. Many nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces also survive.
David was predeceased by his former wife, Janice Lyons Ryan; his brother, Donald Ryan; his brother-in-law, Sanford Wetmore; daughter-in-law, Nancy Marron; and grandson, Richard.
Friends will be received from 10 am until noon Thursday, July 18, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 pm July 18 at St. Peter Cemetery, Section 17, Danbury, Connecticut.
