Readers are invited to the annual Newtown Senior Center Open House, which this year will include a Health Expo.

The event is planned for Thursday, July 20, from 10 am until 1 pm, at the center, 8 Simpson Street. All are welcome, and there will be opportunities to meet health care professionals from all over the area, enjoy free health screenings, learn healthy eating habits, and engage in some of the center’s popular exercise classes.

Planned guests/presenters include Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS), Newtown Lions Club, Church Hill Village, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Newtown Health District, chiropractor Dr Della Schmid, a representative from Hartford HealthCare, and Edward Jones Financial Planner Maria Xavier.

There will be refreshments available for purchase from Nick’s Catering; live entertainment, free drinks, hearing and vision tests and blood pressure checks, along with educational presentations, exhibits, and door prizes.

It will also be a great day to meet Newtown Community Center and Parks & Recreation team members.
