With a pair of wins over Aerco International recently, Gruce Tile captured the Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball National League championship. Gruce defeated Aerco 9-0 and 10-4 to earn the title.

In the first win, Christian Gonzalez and Nick Wolf drew walks in the top of the third inning before Andrew LaMarche and Anthony Gruce broke the scoreless tie with run-scoring singles. Joe Fedak then tripled home LaMarche and Gruce and Adam Wenick singled in Fedak to cap a five-run inning.
In the top of the fourth, LaMarche singled and Gruce doubled. Fedak then crushed a three-run homer over the leftfield fence to put Gruce ahead, 8-0. Evan Barreto later added a run-scoring single.
In the second win, LaMarche and Gruce reached base and Fedak doubled both home in the top of the first. Wenick followed with an RBI single and Connor McNamarra then knocked in the fourth run of the inning with a base hit.
Gruce upped its lead to 6-0 in top of second as Adam Mannino doubled, and then LaMarche, Gruce, Fedak, and Wenick hit consecutive singles.
Aerco International came back in bottom of second as Trevor Todd singled, Brian Kuruc was hit by a pitch and Shane Casey doubled both home to cut lead to 6-2. Â In bottom of the third, Aerco closed the gap to 6-4 behind a double by Michael Coates and RBI hits from Andy Lapple and Cole Depuy.
Gruce put the game out of reach in top of fifth, though, as Fedak (double), Wenick, Nathan Crevier, Barreto and Kevin Carney all had key hits.
