Charter Communications Wins Trophies At NECTA Awards
On Thursday, July 17, members of the Newtown-based Charter Communications Community Access Department (CommuniTyVision 21) traveled to the annual cable industry convention in Newport, R.I., to receive three first place public service awards. The New England Cable and Telecommunications Association (NECTA) is a non-profit organization representing the New England cable industry in its goal to unify and provide representation in related state and federal regulatory matters. It also aims to provide assistance in public relations and boost industry communication.
The 15th annual public service competition is an opportunity for members to submit campaigns, projects and programming in six categories to be scored by judges on several levels of criteria such as including creativity, presentation and overall effectiveness.
This year Charter Communications CommuniTyVision 21 was honored to accept awards for the following submissions in these categories:
*System Image Enhancement â First Place for the program âLyme Disease.â
This was a Mobile Truck Production in conjunction with the Newtown Lyme Disease Task Force featuring a specialist speaking before a large crowd at Fireside Inn in Newtown.
*Community Relations Full Campaign â First Place for CTV-21 Internship.
This was recognition of this free service available to any resident in the Charter community who would like a comprehensive, hands-on training experience in video production.
*System Image Enhancement â First Place for the Full Campaign âCommuniTyVision 21.com.â
This was the second year Charterâs website received first place for its ability to provide information to the community while creating a positive image of the company.
âWe are most proud of where we placed in this competition due to the fact that the opposition consists of large cable systems with greater budgets,â Charter Community Access Supervisor Greg Van Antwerp said this week.
