Peter Pastorok

Peter Pastorok, age 86, of Danbury, died Tuesday, July 15, at Hancock Hall Health Care Center. He was the husband of Doris (Donofrio) Pastorok, and was predeceased by his first wife, Kathryn (Gillotte) Pastorok.

He was born in Danbury, June 16, 1917, son of the late John and Susie (Galyo) Pastorok. A graduate of Danbury High School, he received a BA in business administration and was an accounting major at Becker Junior College in Worcester, Mass.

From 1945 to 1971, he was general manager/vice president, of the former Terry Lumber Co., of Bethel. From 1971 to 1974, he was employed by the former J.E. Kleiner Inc of Bethel. From 1974 to 1980, he was employed by John O’Byrne Inc of Newtown, and he retired from the former Rust-Lick Inc of Danbury.

He was the past president and treasurer of the Newtown Country Club, past state president of United Cerebral Palsy Association of Connecticut, he was third degree Knights of Columbus, and a corporator of The Newtown Savings Bank.

He was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran, serving with the 335th Bomb Group and 475th Bomb Squadron; he was a gunner and staff sergeant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Doreen K. Pastorok of Danbury; his son, Robert Anthony Pastorok of Seattle; stepson Richard Donofrio of Oklahoma City; stepdaughters Dayle Elsesser and her husband Charles, of Gaylordsville; Dr Lisa Donofrio and her husband, Brian Valzania, of New Haven; a brother, Michael Pastorok, of Levittown, Penn.; and several nieces and nephews. He also was predeceased by his son, Peter, Jr, and his brothers, George and John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Joseph Church, Danbury, on Friday, July 18, at 10 am. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

Friends were scheduled to be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Thursday, July 17, from 5 to 8 pm.
