Lanny Roy Anderson

Lanny R. Anderson of Newtown, age 61, beloved husband of Patricia Walker Anderson for 23 years, died peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, on July 13 in Danbury.

Since 1969, Lanny lived in Newtown, where he was a builder and developer. Lanny and his wife, Patricia, renewed their wedding vows just one month ago on a dream cruise.

Born December 18, 1941, in Bridgeport, Lanny grew up in Trumbull and graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport. He served in the US Coast Guard and was employed by Precision Resources in Shelton for 20 years, before retiring early at the age of 59. He was a former member of the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Department.

Lanny was the beloved son of Betsy Johnson Anderson and the late Sven Alvar Anderson of Newtown.

He is also survived by his son, Shane R. Anderson, and his wife, Andrea, of Canton; one grandson, Forrest K. Anderson of Canton; his brother, Gordon Anderson and his wife, Sandy, of Newtown; an aunt and uncle, Doris and Gordon Johnson of Trumbull; several cousins; his first wife and good friend, Susan Anderson Goodrich; and two pets he adored, Max and Maggie.

Lanny was an amazing man who had a wonderful gift of gab and always said that he had the greatest family. Warm-hearted and caring, he epitomized love, sensitivity, laughter, and happiness, and he lived life to the fullest. Lanny was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial donations may be made to the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.

The family greeted visitors and services were held July 16 at the home of Gordon and Sandy Anderson in Newtown.

The Spear Funeral Home, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
