John L. Davey, Sr
John Lee Davey, Sr, 65, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of Bethel, died on July 6 in Florida. He was the husband of Ruth Ann Plevka Davey.
He was born on July 23, 1937 in Danbury, a son of the late Joseph B. and Martha B. (McManus) Davey.
A former owner of Davey Brothers Grocery Deli in Sandy Hook, he was employed for many years as the manager of the North American Data Center for Readers Digest.
A longtime Bethel resident, he coached Little League baseball teams for each of his sons. He was a former parishioner of St Mary Church, Bethel. An avid golfer, he was a member of Heritage Village Country Club in Southbury. During his retirement he and his wife moved to Tucson, Ariz., and he became a member of the Sun City Country Club. He had just recently moved to Lehigh Acres, Fla.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his sons, John L. Davey, Jr, of College Park, Md., Timothy M. Davey and his wife, Sherri Ann, Charles E. Davey, and Patrick A. Davey, all of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; his sister, Maureen Fiasconaro of Ridgewood, N.J.; and a brother, Joseph B. Davey, Jr, of Palm Coast, Fla.; a very special niece, Catherine (Davey) Keuseman, of Mara Copa, Ariz., as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Contributions in his name may be made to a charity of oneâs choice.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated July 12 at the Church of St Mary, Bethel. Burial was in St Mary Cemetery.
