DANBURY - After a somewhat slow start to the 2003 season, the Newtown Heat have put together a bunch of wins (nine) to make it a more pleasant summer.
DANBURY â After a somewhat slow start to the 2003 season, the Newtown Heat have put together a bunch of wins (nine) to make it a more pleasant summer.
In the ASA State Tournament in Danbury recently, the Heat defeated the Cheshire Wildcats (16-1 and 11-10), Ledyard Renegade (10-2), Norwalk Mariners (6-4), but suffered losses to the Shoreline Sting (3-1) and Norwalk Mariners (10-9).
The finish earned the Heat a spot in the Northeast Regionals in Danbury against teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine. They lost, but enjoyed reaching the tournament in their first season.
In regular season action in the Connecticut Valley Fastpitch League (CVFL), the Heat recently defeated the Chesire Wildcats (11-6), Norwalk Mariners (5-2), Newtown Hawks (5-2), Bethek (8-0) and Beacon Falls (7-6).
The Heat will be heading to New Jersey next week for a âfun in the sunâ tournament.
